Australia just dropped Travis Head from their T20I squad mid-series shockingly. Cricket Australia sent him to play Sheffield Shield games instead. The IND vs AUS T20I series still has two big matches left.

Travis Head played the opening three games before getting the boot. His bat really went dead silent during this series unfortunately. The opener’s best knock was a normal 31 runs total. Travis Head flopped badly in his last eight innings played.
Why Australia Gave Travis Head the Way
Travis Head just couldn’t score runs to save his spot honestly. He kept failing to blast those quick starts Australia wanted badly. His terrible batting form has got selectors panicking about the Ashes now.
Cricket Australia wants his mind totally on red-ball cricket only. The Ashes 2025-26 kicks off on November 21 which is right around the corner. Travis Head needs his confidence and touch back desperately before that.
Playing in the Sheffield Shield gives him proper match practice for Tests. Australia figures Test cricket is a way bigger priority for him currently.

Who Else Got Dropped from IND vs AUS T20I Squad
Sean Abbott also got the release from the T20I squad unfortunately. The quick bowler had a nightmare series with the ball honestly. Tanveer Sangha left too after coming in for Adam Zampa earlier. He’ll play One-Day Cup games for New South Wales now instead.
“Travis Head and Sean Abbott will leave the T20 squad for their respective home states following last night’s third T20 International in Hobart. Ben Dwarshuis returns to the T20 squad for the last two matches on the Gold Coast and in Brisbane”
“Tanveer Sangha has been released to play for New South Wales in the One-Day Cup while Head is available for South Australia’s next Sheffield Shield match against Tasmania next week. Abbott will be available for New South Wales’ next game against Victoria at the SCG,” Cricket Australia said.
Ben Dwarshuis came into the T20I squad taking Sangha’s place there. Steve Smith, Mitchell Starc, and Josh Hazlewood are heading back home. Cameron Green will bowl again for Western Australia after recovering from injury.
