India’s Jasprit Bumrah in action during the Boxing Day Test match against Australia’s Sam Constance at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
While in the first innings, Konstas surprised everyone by batting brilliantly on Bumrah’s balls, in the second innings, Bumrah made a tremendous comeback and clean bowled Konstas. Jasprit Bumrah has proved once again that he is one of the best fast bowlers in the world.
After the match, Australia’s star batsman Marnus Labuschagne gave his opinion on the whole incident and said that Konstas had troubled Bumrah a lot with his batting.
Bumrah vs Konstas
In the first innings of the Melbourne Test, 19-year-old Sam Konstas batted fearlessly on Jasprit Bumrah’s deliveries. Konstas not only played a scoop shot and hit a boundary but also hit a six on the reverse scoop. The young batsman surprised everyone by scoring 60 runs off 65 balls in his very first Test match.
However, in the second innings, Jasprit Bumrah uprooted the stumps of Konstas with a brilliant inswinger and also celebrated loudly after taking the wicket. Commenting on the celebration, Marnus Labuschagne said that Konstas batting had troubled Bumrah, so he celebrated like that.
Labuschagne heaped praise on Jasprit Bumrah
Marnus Labuschagne heaped praise on Jasprit Bumrah in the press conference. “It’s very difficult for any batsman to play Bumrah’s bowling.
Labuschagne pointed out that Bumrah consistently bowls a long length and his action is so unique that the batsman does not understand which way the ball will go. Jasprit Bumrah has been brilliant in this series and has taken crucial wickets for the team in every match.
Labuschagne also said that as the Test series progressed, the team has understood Bumrah’s bowling better, but still it is not easy to face his bowling.
Marnus Labuschagne also had his say on Sam Konstas. “Konstas is a very confident player and loves challenges on the pitch.”
Labuschagne said that when a small bowler plays a reverse-lap on him, he also gets angry, so Bumrah’s anger was natural. He also said that Konstas will be ready to perform even better in the next innings.
