Subhadeep Ghosh’s Background and Domestic Playing Career
Subhadeep Ghosh is an ex-domestic cricketer from Assam. He was born in Digboi, Assam in 1968. During his playing career, he was a right-handed batter. He was also an off-spin bowler in cricket matches. He represented Assam and Railways in domestic cricket.
His domestic playing record includes 17 First-Class cricket matches. He also played 17 List A cricket matches there. He scored 316 runs in First-Class cricket overall. He scored 307 runs in List A cricket.
He made his First-Class and List A debut in the 1994-95 domestic season during his playing career. His final First-Class match came in 2004.
Coaching Experience Across Multiple Teams and Levels
Subhadeep Ghosh transitioned into coaching after retiring as a player. He has been completely associated with the National Cricket Academy. He worked at the NCA during Rahul Dravid’s tenure. He has worked with multiple Indian teams across age groups.
He has worked with India A and India Under-19 teams. He acted as the fielding coach of the women’s cricket team. He worked with them during their 2021 tour of Australia.
He was part of India’s support staff during the 2024 ICC Under-19 World Cup campaign in South Africa. India’s new fielding coach has extensive player development experience.
IPL Experience and Appointment as Senior Men’s Coach
Subhadeep Ghosh was part of KKR in 2014 and they won their second IPL title during that year. He later became the fielding coach of Delhi Capitals. His selection shows the BCCI’s decision to get a new face.
This brings fresh energy into the senior men’s coaching staff. He brings extensive experience in fielding coaching across domestic formats. He brings experience across age-group, women’s, and IPL cricket formats.
Subhadeep Ghosh will work with Shubman Gill’s Test team. India’s new fielding coach appointment strengthens the coaching staff.
