Long series test a team’s depth, and the toughest tests come with injuries. One side has now rethought its plans to keep key players fresh. Here are the details, explained in simple and friendly words.

New Zealand Announce Squad Changes for a Tough Stretch
The hosts adjusted their group for the final three T20Is vs India to manage workloads. Captain Mitchell Santner’s side trails India 2-0 after losing the second match by four wickets.
The team faces a busy schedule of five ODIs and two Tests against India. A four-Test tour of Australia follows, so protecting pace bowlers is a top priority. Pace bowlers carry the most risk, so the team wants to protect them.
Matt Henry Out as New Zealand Announce Squad
Matt Henry will miss the remaining matches after he felt a tight calf. He bowled only two overs in the second match before he left the field.
Henry will stay in Christchurch and join the ODI squad in Auckland on November 2. The first ODI against India starts on November 4, just two days after he arrives.
Ferguson, Jamieson and Other Changes
Lockie Ferguson left the field in the second match as a precaution. He will miss the third match in Wellington but should return for the last two. Those games take place on October 30 and November 1 in Auckland and Hamilton.
Kyle Jamieson did not play the first two games, but he will travel to Wellington. He will then play for Canterbury against Wellington in the Ford Trophy on October 31. That match will help him build fitness before the ODI series against India.
New Zealand’s T20I squad for the last three match
Mitchell Santner (c), Tim Seifert (wk), Finn Allen, Daryl Mitchell, Glenn Phillips, Bevon Jacobs, Michael Bracewell, Nathan Smith, Adam Milne, Devon Conway, Jacob Duffy, Lockie Ferguson (fourth and fifth T20Is), Kyle Jamieson (third T20I only), Matt Fisher (cover for third T20I), Blair Tickner (final three T20Is), Josh Clarkson (fourth and fifth T20Is).
Fresh Faces Join the Group
Blair Tickner joins the team in Wellington for the final three T20Is vs India. Josh Clarkson will link up in Auckland for the fourth and fifth matches.
He and Tickner first came in as replacements for injured players Zak Foulkes and Mark Chapman. Matt Fisher will join as cover for the third match only, then return to New Zealand A.
Head coach Rob Walter says the team is lucky to have strong squad depth. He believes the changes will keep the bowlers fit for the big schedule ahead.
New Zealand announce squad details through New Zealand Cricket, which confirmed travel plans for each player.
