Former India wicketkeeper-batsman Parthiv Patel will now be seen in a new role in IPL 2025. Gujarat Titans have roped in him as their assistant and batting coach.
Parthiv Patel’s IPL career
Parthiv Patel has had an illustrious IPL career. He has been a part of big teams like Chennai Super Kings, Kochi Tuskers Kerala, Deccan Chargers, Sunrisers Hyderabad, RCB and Mumbai Indians. He played his last IPL match in 2018.
In 2022, Gujarat Giants selected him for Legends League Cricket. He also became the captain of the team in 2023. Now he is going to join the team of his home state in a new role.
With a career spanning 17 years, former India wicketkeeper-batter Parthiv Patel will bring a wealth of experience and knowledge to the team, Gujarat Titans said in an official statement.’
Parthiv Patel has previously worked as a scout for Mumbai Indians and was also the batting coach of the Mumbai Emirates franchise. He was last seen in action in IPL 2018.
“As the Titans prepare for the upcoming Indian Premier League season, Parthiv’s tremendous knowledge of batting technique and strategy will play a key role in honing the skills of the players,” the statement added. Parthiv, who is known for his sharp cricketing skills and ability to mentor young talent. Strengthen the coaching staff and contribute to the growth and performance of the player.
Parthiv Patel’s Contribution to India:
- The player has so far played 25 Test matches in which he has scored a total of 934 runs. His performance in Test cricket has been brilliant, where he has scored 6 half-centuries, which shows his skill. His average performances in Test matches prove him to be a potent batsman, especially in the longer format.
- His contribution to ODI cricket has been immense. He has scored 736 runs in 38 ODIs. Even in the ODI format, he scored 4 half-centuries, which shows that he is a useful and patient batsman even in the shorter format. He has contributed to the team by making full use of his limited opportunities.
- In T20 cricket, he has played only 2 matches, in which he has scored 36 runs. Although there have been fewer opportunities to play in this format, their performance has been commendable.
