The second ODI between India and Australia in Adelaide was quite exciting, but Team India lost by 2 wickets.
The Indian team, captained by Shubman Gill, batted first and scored 264 runs. Rohit Sharma played an innings of 73 runs, but Gill regretted not scoring a bigger score.

India’s Batting Status
After losing the toss, India was forced to bat. Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli were dismissed early, with Kohli returning to the pavilion for a duck for the second consecutive time.
Rohit Sharma struggled initially but then went on to score 73 runs off 97 balls, including 7 fours and 2 sixes.
Shreyas Iyer made 61 and Axar Patel made 44 runs in support. In the end, Harshit Rana and Arshdeep Singh combined to make the score respectable.
Australia chased down the target easily, losing Travis Head and Mitchell Marsh early, but Matthew Short made 74 and Cooper Connolly made 61 to secure victory. The Indian bowlers took some wickets, but fielding errors proved costly.
What Shubman Gill said about Rohit’s innings
Gill spoke about the match in the post-match presentation. He said that the team had enough runs to defend, but dropped catches spoiled the game.
Gill said, “We had just enough runs on the board. It’s never easy when you drop a couple of chances to be able to defend that kind of total.”
Gill described the pitch as difficult initially but later settled down.
He said, “The wicket was doing a little bit more initially. But I think the wicket settled pretty nicely after 15-20 overs.”
Gill praised Rohit Sharma’s innings but lamented his inability to score a big score.
Gill said, “(On Rohit Sharma) Never easy, coming back and playing some competitive cricket after a long time. But the initial phase was very challenging. Very pleased with the way he batted. Fought out in the initial phase. I would say he missed out on a really big knock.”
The series is now in Australia’s favor, with the third match to be played in Sydney on October 25th. The Indian team needs to improve its batting and fielding.
