An exciting overseas opportunity has just reshaped one team’s tournament plans. Their captain is stepping away mid-season for a genuinely rare chance. This leaves his franchise with real leadership and bowling questions to solve. Here’s everything currently known about this developing cricketing story today.

Sai Kishore to Miss TNPL for Gloucestershire Stint
Sai Kishore to miss TNPL 2026 after joining Gloucestershire mid-tournament recently. He’ll play the final six County Championship matches, available from August 20.
Kishore announced the move through a video on his Instagram account. He’d played five matches for Tiruppur before this departure was confirmed. This departure means Tiruppur loses both its captain and key bowler.
This creates a genuine void the franchise must now address quickly.
Tiruppur Captain’s Impact Before His Departure
As Tiruppur Captain, Kishore took six wickets across those five TNPL matches played. His best outing came against Nellai Royal Kings, picking up two wickets. Under his leadership, Tiruppur won three matches and lost two others overall.
They started with a defeat before winning three straight games afterward. Tushar Raheja is expected to take over as the team’s next captain. The franchise, though, hasn’t officially confirmed these leadership changes just yet.
Kishore’s Growing County Cricket Experience
Kishore previously played county cricket for Surrey back in 2025 briefly. He took 11 wickets in just two matches during that brief stint. His standout performance came against Durham. He finished with figures of 5 for 72.
Kishore said he’s always wanted to test himself in English conditions. He expressed genuine excitement about representing Gloucestershire and meeting fans there. This move offers him another chance to sharpen his red-ball skills.
A Consistent Performer in Domestic Cricket
Kishore remains one of Indian domestic cricket’s most consistent performers overall today. He has taken 223 wickets in 54 first-class matches for Tamil Nadu. He was also part of India’s gold medal squad at the 2023 Asian Games.
In the IPL, he has picked up 33 wickets for Gujarat Titans. Despite this record, he has played just three T20Is for India. This county stint could help push his case for greater recognition. Cricket fans will now watch closely to see how he performs abroad.
